Mission Statement
The mission of the Arkansas Geographic Alliance is to:
- Create geographically literate students who have knowledge of and appreciation and respect for diverse cultures, places, and environments and the interrelationships that connect them; and, have the geographic skills needed to navigate and thrive in an interconnected global society.
- Broaden and deepen teachers' knowledge of diverse cultures, places, and environments and the interrelationships that connect them; and, provide professional development and networking opportunities for teachers.
- Improve and expand parental engagement in geography education.
- Increase public awareness of geography; improve community engagement in geography education; and, inspire people to care about Earth and to become stewards of world resources.
- Increase the number of students enrolled in geography courses; increase the amount of geography education offered in schools; restore geography education in the classroom; and, amplify the status of geography in state education standards.
