  • The Arkansas Geographic Alliance and The EAST Initiative are now formally partners. The Alliance is eager to work with EAST and its CEO, Matt Dozier.
  • The Alliance is in the process of conducting two surveys: one for educational administrators and one for policy makers. Watch here for the results.

  • The Arkansas Geographic Alliance is planning a major conference that will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 (click here for a flyer). The conference will be for all practicing teachers, teacher candidates, social studies methods professors, and other interested educators. EconomicsArkansas, EAST, ACSS, the Geography Club at UCA, the Department of Geography at UCA, and UCA, are sponsoring organizations.Our special guest will be Dr. Tom Paradise, who will introduce his new Arkansas: An Illustrated Atlas.
February 10, 2012
  • The Student Government Association (SGA) at the University of Central Arkansas awarded the Geography Club $1,500 to help sponsor the Alliance Window on the World workshop in April. We extend our thanks to Ed Briggler, Club president, and Curt Hall, graduate assistant for the Alliance, for their work in securing SGA funds.

November 8-9, 2012

  • Several members of the Arkansas Geographic Alliance participated in the Arkansas Curriculum Conference. Dr. Nancy Gallavan and Marilyn Friga facilitated a session; Lori Delk and Paul Gray facilitated a session; Dr. Brooks Pearson of the UCA Geography Department facilitated a session, and Mounir Farah facilitated a session. Brooks Green staffed a booth for the Alliance and participated in Dr. Farah's session. The ACSS luncheon was exceptional because we listened to Elizabeth Eckford, one of the Little Rock Nine, talk about her experiences associated with Central High.
